# Cancel or Delete an Outbound Call

> Cancel a scheduled retry so it never dials, or remove a finished call from your records

What this does depends on the call's status:

* **`scheduled`** — the retry is cancelled and never dials (`cancel_reason: manual`). A retry that has already been picked up for dialling is left untouched.
* **Any finished status** — the call is soft-deleted: it stops appearing in the outbound-call and call-log endpoints and its recording and share link stop resolving. Usage and billing figures are unchanged.
* **In flight** (`queued`, `dispatching`, `dispatched`, `dialing`, `in_progress`) — refused with `409`; wait for the call to finish.

| - | - |
| `200` | Scheduled retry cancelled, or finished call deleted |
| `404` | Agent or call not found, or not accessible to this token |
| `409` | The call is in flight, or the retry is no longer scheduled |
